Nixon Tulloch Forty
2009

Melbourne architecture practice Nixon Tulloch Fortey approached Lycette Bros. to design a large format image for an expansive glass section of an exciting renovation in Richmond.

"...a great green graphic that depicts big leaves interspersed with mechanisms from an old camera, the feature piece has effective impact because it seems to extend the natural canopy of trees that arches over the backyard."
Domain, The Age, Feb. 2012

A second level, forward tilting wall of glass spans the rear section of the property. This glazed walkway required a graphic treatment to function as a point of interest and also as a screen. The perforated film achieves a screening factor of 85% (required for planning restrictions) while also creating an intriguingly green corridor on the inside which forms a walkway between the children's bedrooms.

The image was derived from elements of the ACMI Cinebugs animation which featured many large elm tree leaves and a number of mechanical insects such as a butterfly, dragonfly, ladybird and spider.
