Produced for SBS television, Where Stories Come From is a adaptation of a traditional tale from Africa.
The SBS audience submitted stories and fairy tales from their homeland and Australian animators were then invited to adapt them for a modern youth audience. Where Stories Come From was originally a tale that sought to explain where early humans gained the ability to tell stories. However, we chose to represent the story in a traditional way with the unexpected addition of aggression and violence, creating a story that illuminates the brutal and opportunistic nature of humankind and our relationship with animals and the planet at large.
Where Stories Come From was broadcast on SBS television throughout 2004 and also screened at a number of festivals, including: AnimaMundiWeb (Brazil), Digital Arts Festival (Argentina) and Cologne Online Film Festival (Germany).
